DENTAL IMPLANTS

Safe, attractive and permanent replacement for failing natural teeth

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a safe, attractive and permanent replacement when natural teeth fail. They can be used to replace a single tooth or a full arch. Implants will restore strength to the teeth and enable you to eat normally again. They look and feel just like natural teeth so no-one will ever know your teeth are anything but natural, and with the right care they can last you a lifetime.

WHY CHOOSE DENTAL IMPLANTS?

Losing natural teeth can affect your speech and limit your food choices. For many patients it impacts on their self-esteem and confidence in social situations. Implants can help overcome all of these problems. As well as being safe and durable, they are suitable for most people.

Using implants to fill a gap means that we don’t have to involve other teeth, as we would with a bridge. They are the next best thing to natural teeth. At Contemporary Dental we have been placing implants for more than 20 years.

WHY CHOOSE CONTEMPORARY DENTAL?

We have many years’ experience in successfully placing implants. Join hundreds of patients in Exeter who are smiling and enjoying their favourite foods again following dental implant treatment in our city centre practice. We take referrals from practices across the south west, or patients can come and see us independently for dental implants. Over the decades we have been privileged to care for many clients through their courses of treatment and see them grow in confidence as their quality of life and oral health improves. Our principal dentist, Dr Mark Russ, has been placing implants for more than a decade and is currently studying for a Masters degree in Dental Implantology.

"Contemporary Dental is a family-owned, independent private practice and it is this personal touch that is at the heart of what we do."

FAQ’S

  • An implant is a titanium screw that acts as a ‘root’ in the jawbone to mimic the strength and stability of a natural tooth. A dental crown is then fixed to the titanium screw to restore the appearance and function of the original tooth.

  • Anyone who is missing one or more of their teeth due to injury, disease, or decay maybe a candidate

  • Treatment will vary depending on your individual situation. To get a bespoke treatment plan with an estimate of treatment time please book an Implant assessment where we will provide you with a detailed treatment plan

  • With proper oral hygiene care and regular check ups dental implants can last for decades or a lifetime.

  • The cost of implants will depend on a few factors, including the number of teeth being replaced and the number of implants required.

You don’t necessarily need an implant for each missing tooth, we are able to replace 3 missing teeth for example with 2 implants on a 3-unit bridge. Therefore, it is important to get a bespoke treatment plan with a clear idea of treatment options and costs.

We can offer 0% finance options to help you spread the cost of your dental treatment.

  • After your implant treatment you will see our hygiene therapist who will show you how to clean and care for your dental implants. We advise for you to have regular hygiene appointments and check ups to maintain the health of your mouth therefore prolonging the life of your dental implants.

  • It is possible to have teeth extracted and an implant immediately placed into the extraction socket. You can also have temporary teeth added onto these implants or a temporary denture. There are a few factors which can make it necessary to wait for healing after tooth removal before an implant can be placed. The main factor is whether there is any infection.

If an infection is present, we need to allow a healing phase of up to 12 weeks before we can place an implant.

You won’t be left with a gap if you do not wish to have one. There are lots of temporary solutions which will be explained to you at your consultation.

  • Our highly trained team members are experienced in dental sedation and can offer this to you during your implant placement appointment. Please find more about sedation here:

  • Implants are placed in a very gentle and calm fashion and care is taken to avoid damage to the surrounding tissues. Most patients report that there is very little discomfort during and after the treatment. We recommend taking regular pain killers for a few days after.

  • You do not need one implant per tooth, you can have as few as four implants to replace all of the upper or lower teeth. We also offer fixed or removable implant retained dentures.

  • Please book a consultation with us and we can discuss your needs, treatment and finance options with you.
